So I wasn't paying enough attention ordering the Deglet Noor Dates here and found when I got them that they had pits, and a lot of them have the little stem stub on the top. I looked into it though and found that the pits can be roasted in the read more... oven for 45 minutes and the seeds ground afterwards for a coffee substitute, a lot like chicory root. As for the dates themselves though, I have been impressed with the taste and texture. I prefer dates as a source of sugar, unrefined and healthier thanks to antioxidants, nutrients and fiber. The price is about the cheapest available online, though the pit does have some weight, which should be taken into account. I wish there was a pitted option for these, besides the chopped dates with the oat flour coating.
