I use these as a sweetener to my cereal as well as the occasional sugar snack. It is sweet, not overly so, but sweet enough that if I put these into a cereal that is already artificially sweetened it will cause a sugar rush. So I put these into the read more... non-sweetened cereals or eat them with other non-sweet snacks to balance it out. Whatever the process is for candying pineapples, it must eliminate the bromelain and acids in the fruit that causes irritation if too much is eaten in one sitting. So these have the pineapple flavor and sweetness, without most of the enzymes and acids that can cause a quick run to the bathroom. I think these will keep for quite awhile too, so a single one pound bag should last for a month or two if eaten in moderation.
